See more projectsThis log cabin near Iron Mountain, MI had the classic signs of what is commonly referred to as "dry rot". Dry rot is a bit of a misnomer in that the rot is actually a result of too much moisture, not dryness. At some point logs with dry rot had too high a moisture content them for an extended period of time, which often leads to rot. (See What is Dry Rot) You can see from these photos that the log deteriorated to the point that it required our expert services to replace the rot with a partial log. Our replacement logs are dried cedar because of its inherant rot resistent properties. (See Our Cedar Logs)
