The rotten logs in the main corner of this log home could be attributed mostly to water damage from a poorly pitched porch roof, which caused the water to run directly down the log wall. Over time, the exposure to this additional moisture caused the logs to rot out.

The bottom-most logs in this area were rotted all the way through to the floor system. We had to do some floor repair but luckily the floor was not significantly compromised. The owners had an option to correct the problem with the roofline by installing a gutter here, which should take care of the problem.
