See more projectsThis is a log-sided home that was in need of repair. We refer to this type of log home as "real log siding". The siding is approximately 5" thick and was applied to a frame-type of home. The main problem was that the corners were all rotting out. The first thing we noticed was that because of the design of the home, the crowns were allowed to hang outside of the "drip line", so rain was allowed to fall directly onto these corners. About 50 % of the logs in each corner were rotten.

In order to save money on the project, and to protect the corners in the future, were came up with a solution that involved removing all the crowns and replacing them with vertical cedar logs in each corner. This accomplished two things:
